As a Sr. Product/Process Development Scientist, you’ll have a significant impact on both the business and the R&D team. Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate formulation expertise and benchtop chemistry techniques to solve key technical challenges and deliver on key product attributes.
  • Apply fundamental technical and processing knowledge from internal resources and co-manufacturers to achieve project requirements.
  • Lead, design and execute project work against innovation and commercialization objectives.
  • Utilize creative problem-solving skills, technical expertise and bias for action to deliver solutions that meet end-user and customer needs on time and with excellence.
  • Build strong working relationships with peers, stakeholders, cross-functional and external partners to facilitate alignment and efficient and on-time execution of projects.
  • Develop deep understanding of the Healthcare and Janitorial (Corporate Offices, Schools) business categories, helping R&D meet both margin and growth goals for the business.
  • Create prototypes to bring product solutions to life and test with the end-user.
  • Provide thought leadership embracing the full product proposition including product claims with multi-disciplined project teams.
  • Create a sustainable competitive advantage for Clorox by having an external lens, identifying new opportunities and building internal technical/testing capabilities within the R&D team.
  • Act as a mentor to more junior scientists on the team, guiding and coaching them in their technical work both in the What and How.

Requirements

  • BS, MS or PhD in relevant science or engineering discipline (i.e. Chemical Engineering) or equivalent industry experience.
  • 4+ years of development experience in Consumer Packaged Goods or B2B and chemistry/formulation experience preferred.
  • High passion, technical curiosity, positive drive and commitment in setting and meeting aggressive functional and business goals.
  • Ability to identify, champion and adapt new technologies, tools and processes.
  • Experience with development and commercialization of consumer-centric products and/or services.
  • Demonstrated influence skills to sell in ideas to teams and the greater organization.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative team environment, both with internal multi-functional groups and external partners.
  • Experience with data analysis tools to drive decision making, modeling & simulation mindset preferred.
