Responsibilities
- Build elegant, scalable and performant components.
- Collaborate with peers on vision, technical design, task estimation and execution of features.
- Write and maintain quality code and reliable automated tests.
- Contribute to the improvement of the team efficiency and engineering excellence.
- Work in a fast paced agile environment while balancing effort across multiple priorities.
- Experience delivering high-performance, high-throughput solutions.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with object-oriented or functional design and programming with Java or Scala.
- 2+ years of experience with concurrency, multithreading, server architectures, and distributed systems.
- 2+ years of experience with 2 or more web service technologies like SOAP, REST, JSON, XML Schema, WSDL, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience.
Nice-to-haves
- 3+ years of experience developing applications using Cloud-based technologies.
- Experience with GraphQL.
- Ability to communicate design ideas using UML.
- Experience with distributed and concurrent systems; secure, fault tolerant, resilient, consistent, scalable, and predictable and the tradeoffs therein.
- Experience with test platforms and writing automations.
- Familiarity with standard development tools and processes such as source control, IDE, JUnit, debugging, profiling, JIRA, TeamCity, Crucible, etc.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Willing to learn and adapt to Workday proprietary technologies and frameworks.
- Proficient in agile methodologies (scrum, kanban), tools (Jira) and accustomed to fast-paced environments.
