About the position

Join a mission-driven team at the forefront of national security, building the critical infrastructure that powers authentication and access control across a fast-growing suite of enterprise tools. As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Identity, you’ll shape the future of secure login experiences, API protection, and user access systems. You’ll lead efforts to craft scalable authentication and authorization architectures, influence company-wide security practices, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact capabilities. This is a fully remote opportunity, ideal for those who thrive at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and real-world mission impact.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain authentication (AuthN) and authorization (AuthZ) systems using open-source tools like Keycloak and OpenFGA.
  • Define API-level security strategies and lead implementation of robust identity workflows across 10+ enterprise products.
  • Build and maintain user management systems, including SSO flows, login interfaces, and access control mechanisms.
  • Partner with the Information Security team to ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Mission team to deliver seamless, secure user experiences.
  • Mentor junior engineers and play a key role in defining the technical roadmap for identity systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on secure identity architectures, driving adoption of best practices across the organization.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with a strong track record of building secure, scalable infrastructure.
  • Deep knowledge of authentication protocols such as OIDC and SAML, and experience integrating with identity providers like Okta or Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Strong foundation in modern AuthZ models such as RBAC, ABAC, Google Zanzibar, UMA, or ACL-based access control.
  • Experience deploying and managing identity systems with open-source technologies like Keycloak and OpenFGA.
  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and roadmap development in cross-functional environments.
  • Ability to architect reliable backend systems that connect seamlessly with user-facing components.
  • U.S. Person status required due to access to U.S.-only data systems.
  • Passion for mission-driven work and secure-by-design software engineering.
