About the position
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the most trusted driver. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo One, a fully autonomous ride-hailing service, and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states. The Sensor Sim Platform team develops and deploys sensor simulation technologies to solve some of our hardest problems in safety validation, onboard development and ML model training. We collaborate with research and partner teams on bleeding edge sensor simulation solutions, including Gaussian Splatting, GenAI Diffusion, Unreal Engine 5 and traditional ray tracing. In addition to specific rendering solutions, we are responsible for the distributed system and API hosting sensor simulation solutions.
Responsibilities
- Work on a planet-scale distributed simulation framework with performance and reliability requirements
- Work with researchers and graphics experts to integrate bleeding edge sensor simulation solutions in a scalable distributed framework
- Lead the scaling of Gaussian Splatting, Diffusion, Gen AI and Unreal Engine 5 on CPU, GPU and TPU backends
- Ensure a high degree of reliability, usability and engineering excellence of a product on Waymo's critical path to scaling mileage in new territories
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working with Infrastructure - ML Infra
- 5+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems
- High productivity in C++
- 5+ years of experience focused on reliability, scalability, and engineering excellence
Nice-to-haves
- 3+ years of experience with Graphics
- 3+ years of experience with distributed systems for rendering
- 3+ years of experience serving ML models for generating images
- 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure for ML, Inference
- 3+ years of experience with Google Infra, borg, spanner, GCP
