Senior Software Engineer

About the position

AdRise is the technology backbone for programmatic advertising across FOX's streaming platforms. Originally incubated within Tubi, we're now building the next generation of ad decisioning systems to power personalized, real-time ad delivery for millions of viewers. Our mission is to create an exceptional ad experience—relevant to viewers, effective for advertisers, and optimized for scale. We power ad delivery not just for Tubi, but soon for additional FOX streaming platforms launching this year.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize scalable backend services that power real-time ad decisioning
• Write high-quality, tested code in Scala
• Design APIs that integrate with audience data, content metadata, and ad inventory services
• Implement algorithms to select the best ad set based on complex targeting and pacing rules
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data teams to ship reliable features
• Contribute to a high-performing engineering culture through mentorship and code reviews

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend software development experience in a modern JVM language (Scala, Java, Kotlin)
• Strong experience designing distributed systems for high throughput and low latency
• Solid understanding of service-to-service communication, data flows, and performance tuning
• Familiarity with message brokers (e.g. Kafka, Kinesis) and stateless microservice design
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, product-focused engineering environment
• A passion for problem-solving, performance, and building impactful systems

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in AdTech or digital advertising systems
• Knowledge of Akka, constraint solvers, or optimization algorithms
• Familiarity with streaming platforms, SSAI, or server-side targeting logic
• Exposure to Kubernetes, ClickHouse, Flink, or similar technologies
