As the Senior Software Systems Engineer, you will be an engineering leader for Allegion's next generation access control software simplifying access through Allegion's electromechanical locks for Residential and Commercial environments. In this role, you will be a key contributor to a team of cross-functional product development engineers driving improvements to software and delighting users.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of high-level estimates for delivering new functionality to inform business decisions
  • Collaborate with product management, design, architecture, product security teams to elicit, decompose and manage technical requirements
  • Identify, analyze and communicate program risks
  • Drive program activities to meet program schedule milestones
  • Support Technical Design Reviews at all product development process milestones highlighting engineering progress, issues, and risks
  • Support the documentation of interface control documents (ICDs) for Allegion software and embedded software
  • Provide clear communication to technical team members as well as to other leaders and managers
  • Support the management of scope throughout the development lifecycle

Requirements

  • BS in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years' work experience in new product development
  • Demonstrated software systems engineering fundamental skills, including design-by-requirements, requirement traceability, and requirement verification and validation
  • Demonstrated experience working on project teams delivering complex programs
  • Sound structured problem-solving skills and experience
  • Excellent communication skills and technical writing experience
  • Self-directed with high initiative and high achievement goals
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity methods and protocols, experience with cloud service architectures (AWS, Azure) and mobile SDKs
