Software Development Engineer, DevOps (US Federal)

About the position

At Workday, we are looking for a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer who is passionate about automating, operating, and improving our cloud-native service platforms. This role involves digging into production problems and seeing them through to resolution. The team is responsible for deploying, operating, and supporting our cloud-native technology platform designed from scratch for the cloud, ensuring reliability and availability to meet desired SLAs. The platform is built using Cloud Native technologies on a foundation of Kubernetes in Public Cloud environments, providing a secure platform for service teams to build and test their pre-release code.

Responsibilities

• Be a key member of a team of dedicated DevOps/SREs responsible for software engineering and operations, focusing on reducing operational toil.
• Plan automation and improvements following scrum practices with two-week sprints.
• Ensure the safe change and reliability of customer environments with SLO gated multi-stage deployment automation.
• Develop and launch effective SLIs to ensure SLOs are achieved through building an extendable Observability architecture.
• Partner with platform service teams to craft and implement SRE standards for their respective services.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent degree.
• 4+ years of DevOps or SRE experience in a distributed systems environment.
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• 4+ years of experience with Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with a programming language such as GoLang, Python, or Ruby (preferably GoLang).

Nice-to-haves

• 4+ years in handling and solving distributed systems in a public cloud.
• Experience with software development standard methodologies such as code management, CI/CD (GIT/Jenkins/ArgoCD), testing.
• CKA/CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Administrator/Application Developer) certification and Associate Cloud Engineer certification.

Benefits

• Annualized base salary range: $135,200 - $202,900 USD for primary location.
• Additional US location base pay range: $122,400 - $217,200 USD.
