About the position

APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Develop and enhance features to make Apple products more usable for those with vision and speech disabilities. Audit aspects of media playback for accessibility quality. Attend engineering meetings to discuss architecture for accessibility features. Fix bugs related to assistive technologies on Apple platforms. Screen issues by analyzing user feedback. Collaborate with partner teams to enable accessibility across different apps and platforms. Work closely with quality assurance teams to identify potential improvements in accessibility features. 40 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance features for accessibility in Apple products.
  • Audit media playback for accessibility quality.
  • Attend engineering meetings to discuss accessibility architecture.
  • Fix bugs related to assistive technologies on Apple platforms.
  • Analyze user feedback to screen issues.
  • Collaborate with partner teams for accessibility across apps and platforms.
  • Work with quality assurance teams to identify improvements in accessibility features.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience using assistive technologies such as screen readers (VoiceOver) and switch scanners (SwitchControl).
  • Proficiency in Swift, C++, Javascript, and Objective-C for writing accessibility software.
  • Experience debugging software using LLDB and debugging strategies.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking software including Bugzilla.
  • Experience auditing applications for accessibility compliance.
  • Ability to prepare technical communications to analyze and resolve accessibility software issues.
  • Experience with source code tracking software such as git.
