In this unique opportunity you will make an impact across a wide range of engineering teams. You will lead a team responsible for driving the development and implementation of best practices for qualifying end-to-end cellular features. Your team will also build novel software prototypes, tools, and applications for improving the quality of our operating systems. The Carrier Tools and Automation team is responsible for improving all facets of using automation in our Carrier technologies and standards workflows. This includes analyzing the workflows, data and tools that help teams make it an effective, efficient element of their testing strategy. We need a creative leader to help us explore and implement new technologies to continually improve our approach to achieving outstanding quality. You will work closely with other Wireless Technologies Managers and Automation Engineers across Apple to ensure we are putting the best ideas into our solutions. You will be part of all aspects of the development cycle from research, prototyping, development and shipping software to a large group of internal teams. This role is perfect for you if you enjoy collaborating with others and exploring how groundbreaking technology can be used to solve challenging problems for the betterment of many teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for driving the development and implementation of best practices for qualifying end-to-end cellular features.
  • Build novel software prototypes, tools, and applications for improving the quality of operating systems.
  • Analyze workflows, data, and tools to enhance testing strategies.
  • Explore and implement new technologies to improve quality.
  • Collaborate with Wireless Technologies Managers and Automation Engineers.
  • Participate in all aspects of the development cycle from research to shipping software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent; Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in an Engineering Manager role.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting, designing, and developing end-to-end solutions from scratch.
  • Strong development skills in Swift, Objective-C, C++, or similar languages.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience in driving development and deployment of relevant testing tools and infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience leading and growing small-to-medium-sized engineering teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid understanding of cellular technologies (e.g. 5G SA, NSA, VoLTE, CA/ENDC, etc.) and 3GPP standards.
  • Experience in solving interdisciplinary problems via ML and training AI/ML models.
  • Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies.
  • Ability to lead several concurrent projects.
  • Experience developing software on Apple platforms (Xcode, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS).
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and creative problem solver with a passion for quality processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
