About the position

This opportunity resides with Global Security (GS). Mission Technologies’ Global Security (GS) group comprises live, virtual, constructive (LVC) solutions; fleet sustainment; nuclear and environmental; and Australia business. As a trusted partner to our military customers, HII designs, develops and operates the largest LVC enterprise that prepares warfighters for cross-domain battle. With advanced technologies to enable mission readiness, HII understands that preparation requires full coordination—not readiness in piece-parts. For more than 40 years, the U.S. Navy has entrusted HII to maintain and modernize the vast majority of its fleet. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and debug application software that tackles complex logical and mathematical challenges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including hardware engineers and equipment designers—to create efficient electronic data processing systems for both product and commercial use.
  • Identify user needs and analyze system capabilities to define output requirements, input acquisition strategies, and programming logic compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Develop compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems tailored to specific project needs.
  • Ensure all software solutions align with internal standards and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree + 5 years relevant experience or Master’s degree + 3 years relevant experience or PhD or JD no experience required or High School diploma or equivalent + 9 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of user experience design principles, information architecture, and accessibility standards.
  • Passion for problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and agile development environment.
  • Understanding of Space Domain Awareness.
  • Proficient in C++.
  • Experience in deploying software and obtaining authorities to operate on SIPRNet.
  • U.S. Citizenship and must have a TS/SCI clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in C#, AFSIM and Python desired.
  • Experience in US and Allied space enterprise position.
  • Three (3) years of software development project management experience.
