Software Engineer II, Application Security

About the position

Etsy is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Application Security team. As part of the larger Security and Privacy Engineering org, we help product teams build secure software and develop and maintain security critical parts of our mobile apps and web applications. We do this by partnering at the design stage for larger features, reviewing code, developing threat models, performing pentests, and leading security initiatives. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Security. Responsibilities

• Work with engineering teams to ensure our mobile apps and APIs are secure by design
• Participate in threat modeling sessions with product teams
• Participate in internal security assessments
• Work with application security subject matter experts, grow your appsec expertise as you work with product teams and help triage vulnerabilities
• Research and introduce security best practices and new technologies from the industry
• Contribute application security initiatives
• Contribute to the development of security-critical features and microservices
• Work with product teams to fix complex security issues

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working in software development
• Experience with mobile apps development or security
• Solid foundations in application security
• Familiarity with cloud computing environments (GCP or AWS) a plus
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
