About the position

Working to improve an existing codebase with a javascript React frontend and a python/java backend. Refactoring legacy code into python, adding new features, and conducting hardware integration. Incorporates agile development alongside cross functional communication to facilitate hardware production, cybersecurity, and system engineering efforts that occur in the same facility and in-house. Working as a member of an agile development team with collaborative version control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Improve existing codebase with a JavaScript React frontend and a Python/Java backend.
  • Refactor legacy code into Python and add new features.
  • Conduct hardware integration.
  • Incorporate agile development and cross-functional communication.
  • Facilitate hardware production, cybersecurity, and system engineering efforts.
  • Collaborate as a member of an agile development team using version control systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years of software development experience.
  • Extensive coding experience in Python.
  • Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience with React.js, Angular, or Vue.js (with emphasis on React for UI modernization).
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and Web Services integration.
  • Relational Database Experience including SQL-based databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL solutions (MongoDB, Redis) for migration contexts.
  • Experience with version control and collaboration tools including Git, GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket.
  • Experience with Jira or Azure DevOps for issue tracking and Agile processes.
  • Experience migrating or modernizing legacy applications.
  • Ability to read, understand, and refactor existing legacy codebases.
  • CI/CD practices using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, DevOps pipelines.
  • Must currently hold a DoDM 8140.03 IAT II certification (SSCP or Security+ CE with appropriate CE/OS certificate) or be able to obtain within six months.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an active Top Secret clearance (SCI eligible).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional languages/technologies such as FastAPI, OAuth, C/C++.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or other FedRAMP-compliant cloud platforms.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud deployments and cloud migration strategies.
  • Understanding of networking, virtualization, and storage concepts.
