About the position

Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm headquartered in downtown Chicago. Our traders provide liquidity to the market through market-making activities and are experts in a diverse set of commodities, interest rates, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and equity index options. We invest in proprietary technology and build our systems from the ground up, continually re-engineering and optimizing our trading models and software systems. Our technology teams play a crucial role in this process, utilizing innovative technology solutions to maintain our competitive edge. We are driven by intellectual curiosity and seek to change the trading landscape through high-performance proprietary development. We are looking for passionate team members who excel in their contributions to our success. As a Software Engineer Intern at Belvedere Trading, you will work directly with full-time Software Engineers and other interns to develop our low latency, high-performance proprietary trading systems. You will participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from design to testing to deployment, and must have a love of technology and a demonstrated interest in financial markets. We are looking for college juniors who are eager to learn and grow in this field. Our Belvedere Trading University (BTU) program will provide you with the necessary knowledge about trading and our proprietary systems once you join the team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in a team environment to build future technology and finance solutions
  • Participate in the in-house learning and development curriculum via peer-led lectures
  • Partner with team members to design, implement, and debug complex trading applications
  • Communicate with project managers and team leadership to develop work strategies

Requirements

  • Experience developing efficient, user-friendly, extensible programs, preferably with an object-oriented programming language such as C++, C#, or Java
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment
  • Desire to continuously learn in a team environment and solve challenging problems
  • Strong communication skills to effectively update teammates and product managers
  • Ability to live in Chicago or Boulder and attend the internship fully in person during the summer of 2026
  • Graduation date of December 2026 or later
