Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer goes beyond just Search. Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. The Health Platforms and Devices team builds innovative products and services that help our users live longer, healthier lives. We bring together the best of Google technologies and AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design to help users organize the health and wellness data, get insight from it, and take action toward their health goals. We do this with a suite of apps, services, and health wearables. We aim to make consumer health more personal, proactive, and actionable.
Responsibilities
- Lead the full-stack engineering team building Ask Health and Insights.
- Own the vision, strategy, and planning of critical initiatives in partnership with Product, UI/UX, and Clinical teams.
- Partner with the AI Research team to design and productionize AI/ML capabilities.
- Keep abreast of the latest in the AI world both to educate the team and to help steer the products.
- Build a conversational interface to a health coach (Ask Health), delivering AI-driven health insights, conversational onboarding and personalization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- Experience with Machine Learning.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Generative AI Agent Experience.
- Experience with Android or iOS.
Benefits
- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
- Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
