About the position

The Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure (EPSI) organization focuses on developing systems and controls for on-vehicle low voltage power generation, energy storage, power management, distribution, and consumption control. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed team as it advances the next generation of low voltage power architectures and consumption control strategies in SDV 2.0. As a Software Engineer (Embedded), you will be responsible for the design and implementation of Activation Power Management Software, ensuring the use of sound, repeatable, industry-standard methodologies. Your responsibilities will include prototyping and executing software tasks spanning the entire software development lifecycle, such as requirements analysis, design, coding, defect resolution support, and production release. We are seeking creative and technically skilled engineers with strong expertise in automotive embedded software to join a highly capable team focused on developing leading-edge technology solutions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with both internal departments and external suppliers, bringing extensive experience in developing infrastructure software solutions for electronic control modules (ECUs). This includes knowledge in Bootloaders, Classic AUTOSAR (OS, RTE), Software Updates & Security (SUMS, Cybersecurity), GM BSW modules, and other application software components. Your contributions will play a key role in shaping the future of low voltage power management and supporting next-generation vehicle architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and debug High Quality Activation Power Management software in C (embedded C).
  • Write Python scripts for automation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in designing, creating, and delivering software solutions for Activation Power Management Software and related embedded control systems.
  • Test and validate software functionality and readiness on prototype benches.
  • Ensure common software solutions across all GM-owned software platforms.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and system performance tuning to ensure software reliability and efficiency.
  • Utilize the CPPU unit testing framework for embedded software validation, ensuring code reliability, functionality, code coverage, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Document design requirements and link them to test cases that verify software functionality.
  • Use automated test tools in build environments and test benches to verify software functionality.
  • Collaborate with specialized teams, including Systems, Safety, Electrical Architecture, Cybersecurity, Software Defined Vehicle, Calibration, and Vehicle Performance.
  • Support root cause analysis and debugging of software issues.
