About the position

Aptos (Ohlone for 'The People') encompasses our mission and ethos for why we build. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Move language team. You will be working on designing the new generation of the Move virtual machine (VM), ensuring it is both secure and performant. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other engineers to analyze, optimize, and re-design components of the Move VM to improve its performance and scalability.
- Create benchmarks and identify performance bottlenecks of the Move VM.
- Implement security measures to protect the Move VM from potential vulnerabilities.
- Write clean, maintainable code and participate in reviews for other team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with background in compilers, performance optimization, concurrency or related fields.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, C++, or similar, with a strong understanding of systems programming.
- Experience working with or are excited to learn about virtual machines, bytecode interpreters, code generation, memory management, parallel transaction execution and performance engineering.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Previous experience with blockchain systems and smart contracts is not necessarily needed, but is a plus.
