About the position

The Software Product Engineering organization (SPE) delivers innovative tech solutions to aid, accelerate, and support work done across Lilly. This role is targeted for a Software Operations Engineer with a focus on Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) functions. As a member of the Operations team, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices. The position will involve working with cross-functional teams, developing robust infrastructure and code in support of accelerating business processes, and thinking innovatively. This role will also touch our AI portfolio and is based in Indianapolis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize cloud-based solutions in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Deploy, manage, and operate Kubernetes clusters.
  • Implement CI/CD processes with a focus on GitHub Actions and GitOps tooling such as Flux and Argo.
  • Utilize monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Jaeger.
  • Develop scripts in Python and/or Bash.
  • Create technical documentation regarding incidents.
  • Guide and direct T1 and T2 operations personnel and troubleshoot alongside them.
  • Drive the incorporation of AI into operations work.
  • Work with software developers and operations engineers to improve the software delivery process and automate when possible.
  • Work in a modern Agile/Kanban environment to deliver customer value.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams across organizational and geographic boundaries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Platform Support, Platform Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • Skills and experience in monitoring, alerting, fault analysis, and automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in software engineering (Python and/or Go).
  • AWS or any other relevant cloud certification(s).
  • Knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • Knowledge of API testing tools.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical domain.
