About the position
Wing is looking for a Senior Software Systems Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team. This role will be based in Palo Alto, CA. The Wing Systems Engineering Team is a multi-discipline group that supports development and operational efforts across Wing, from concept through the entire life cycle. We are looking for talented people who are motivated to navigate through uncertainty to understand problems, drive change, verify, validate, and see solutions through to deployment into real world drone delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Support software development and help drive design decisions from inception to launch by formulating system solutions and generating technical requirements.
- Create system level documentation such as concepts of operation, interface descriptions, performance analyses and design documents.
- Collect information regarding product required functionality, software service interfaces, and interoperability requirements.
- Collaboratively develop and execute processes for software design and implementation.
- Develop large scale regression tests to assess system performance, quantify design implementations, and analyze compliance to system requirements.
- Apply analytical skills to extract insights from large and complex datasets.
- Plan and execute verification and validation activities, and develop evidence based test reports for internal and external consumption.
- Work with developers to define tests and improve hardware and software based implementations.
- Develop documentation to capture test and verification activities and results.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of related domain experience as a Software Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, or Product subject matter expert.
- Proficient reading and writing in C / C++.
- Experience with system engineering methods focused on large scale software applications, automation, data analytics, or safety systems, including requirement derivation and verification and validation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
