About the position

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently seeking an individual for a remote Software Test Engineer position. This position is responsible for testing and supporting software applications used by LifeSouth and our customers. Software testing responsibilities will cover the full software development life cycle, including requirements, design, development, release and support.

Responsibilities

  • Use existing test cases to thoroughly verify the soundness of changes to LifeSouth software
  • Generate test data required for testing
  • Create or update detailed test cases based on the requirements, specifications and other documents
  • Lead efforts to improve software development practices used by the Software Development team
  • Thoroughly understand our existing test framework. Research industry trends to identify, recommend, and implement improvements to our testing process
  • Mentor and train other Software Test Engineers in the appropriate use of tools, testing techniques, and application of the team’s processes
  • Develop automated test scripts that will include database queries
  • Participate in customer issue resolution activities and verify the solution
  • Independently analyze the requirements, specifications, and other documents to ensure complete test coverage
  • Provide input and feedback to improve and refine testing strategies used by the Software Development team
  • Provide reports on test status and results
  • Review and maintain technical artifacts, such as use cases and system specifications
  • Develop and review detailed test case specifications
  • Actively engage in communications regarding blood banking terminology, practices, and processes
  • Support validation and user acceptance testing. Prepare environments, investigate issues, and coordinate with appropriate user groups
  • Assist with defect and enhancement management. This will include writing detailed bug reports and collaborating with others to resolve issues

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in computer science or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be substituted
  • Level of position is determined by experience: Level I: minimum one year experience in testing; Level II: minimum two years of experience in testing with at least one year using automated testing tools; Level III: minimum five years of experience in testing with at least three years using automated testing tools
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of Oracle SQL and familiarity with PL/SQL programming
  • Must understand the software testing life cycle
  • Skill in effectively communicating with technical and non-technical personnel at all levels of the organization, both orally and in writing
