About the position

Join Honeywell, a global leader in innovation and technology, as an Advanced Application Software Engineer in the Flight Simulators group within Honeywell Aerospace Service & Technology. You will be instrumental in providing software solutions and technical expertise for our Windows-based Flight Simulation software and PC-based Flight Management System (FMS) applications. Your role will involve ensuring the successful implementation of FMS software, enabling the simulation of real-world flight scenarios, and contributing to the advancement of aviation technology.

Responsibilities

  • Work with software for Honeywell's Epic Application Simulation Environment (EASE).
  • Serve as the primary developer for rehosted software for Primus Epic FMS in a Windows environment.
  • Provide software solutions and support for customers of rehosted, Windows-based Flight Simulation software.
  • Support Honeywell PC-FMS, a PC-based version of the Honeywell Primus FMS.
  • Maintain PC-based FMS products that allow communication with display hardware and flight training devices.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions.
  • Manage project timelines, customer commitments, and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (cyber & export).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • Minimum of 5 years in application engineering, software engineering or a similar role.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
  • Software skills in C, C++, C#, Python, Ada, and other languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field.
  • Experience with Windows development environments and operating systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience with Real-time operating systems.
  • Debugging problems with multiple systems and recommending the path to resolution.
  • Develop expertise in Honeywell products such as Primus Epic FMS, APEX system, and Anthem Flight system.
  • Knowledge of I/O modules, AFCS, FMS, Displays, ESCAPE registries, DLS.
  • Familiarity with aircraft surveillance products MKV, EGPWS, TAWS, TCAS, WXRDR.
  • Ability to gather requirements from PVCS, DOORS, and multiple other systems.
  • Experience with Avionics software programming.
  • AECS L2 or L3 Classifier / Approver.
  • Experience with simulator environments and tools such as TATS, PCSim, TIU, EASE, FTD.
  • Knowledge of operating systems such as DEOS.
  • Experience with Configuration Management.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive results.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
