About the position

As a Senior Product Marketing Manager focusing on Competitive Intelligence at Confluent, you will be instrumental in shaping product marketing strategies and enabling sales teams through insights into market trends, competitor strategies, and customer needs in the data infrastructure space. Your contributions will directly influence product development and go-to-market strategies, ensuring effective communication of product positioning to target audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of competitor products, pricing, marketing strategies, and sales tactics.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on market developments and recommend strategic responses.
  • Craft compelling messaging and positioning documents that clearly differentiate our products in the market.
  • Develop a range of marketing materials, including white papers, case studies, blog posts, and sales enablement tools.
  • Work closely with product management, sales, and marketing teams to communicate competitive insights and develop strategies that effectively counter competitive threats.
  • Conduct win/loss interviews and quarterly win/loss analysis to gather insights on competitive positioning, product strengths and weaknesses, and market opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of competitive strategies, making recommendations for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise software (subscription and/or SaaS/Cloud) GTM; Product Marketing, Competitive Intelligence, Product Management, or top-tier Management Consulting experience preferred.
  • Strong technical foundation or ability to pick up and understand product/tech concepts (e.g., engineering degree and/or product experience).
  • Distinctive problem-solving, strategic, and analytical capabilities (Excel / Google Sheets required, SQL / Tableau / BigQuery nice-to-have).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • Thrive in cross-functional environments and can effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and teams.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and proactive with complex projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Apache Kafka, data architecture, cloud services, or distributed systems.
