About the position
The Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation practice at BDO USA drives the success of our business through intuitive and human-first digital experiences that our employees and clients engage with. We're elevating the way tax professionals deliver services to our clients and the way we help them manage their taxes and tax strategies. The Staff Product Designer is a strategic individual to help drive the strategy, contribute to the ways we work and create value, guide our design system and best practices, lead the design of our products and platforms, and set the path for our next generation of industry leading digital tax products. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both user interface and user experience design, with a proven track record of simplifying and enhancing the user experience for complex products.
Responsibilities
- Partners closely with Product Owners, Development/Fusion and other stakeholders to translate strategy into zero-to-one products, then continuously improve and leverage rapid experimentation to drive adoption
- Presents and defends designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive-level stakeholders
- Designs intuitive and user-friendly interfaces and experiences for complex and highly technical tax products, ensuring they align with human-centered design principles
- Creates wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
- Conducts research and usability testing to gather insights and feedback and use data to inform design decisions
- Contributes to the vision and strategy for interface and human centered design for our Tax digital transformation and innovation initiatives
- Develops and maintains design guidelines, best practices, and standards
- Raises the aesthetic and storytelling bar through inspiring goals and clear standards
- Shares and champions the importance of human-centered design throughout the organization, advocating for users and clients all aspects of our work
- Provides input into BDO's Tax digital transformation & innovation strategy
- Other duties as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required; focus in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, preferred; OR Ten (10) or more years of experience in digital product UI/UX design, that included human-centered design solutions, required
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in product design or related field, required
- Three (3) or more years of experience in an individual contributor product design leadership role, required
- A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in product design and simplifying the user experience for complex products, preferred
- Expertise designing data-driven interfaces, preferred
- Cross platform web and mobile application design, preferred
- Experience with user research and usability testing methods, preferred
Nice-to-haves
- Certification in UX Design or Interaction Design, preferred
- Expert level experience in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, and Figma), preferred
- Experience in collaborating with product management and engineering teams through Azure DevOps, preferred
- Proficient in design prototyping and storytelling, preferred
