About the position

Walmart is looking for a Staff Engineer Frontend to join the International Digital Experiences team. You will be responsible for leading a team of highly capable and committed engineers working on front-end technologies. The team is engaged in design, development, and delivery of next-generation user experiences for our customers, creating innovative user interfaces and continuously improving how we work. Walmart International is a fast-growing business unit, providing experience on many different projects across the organization. You will partner with cross-functional team members to develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap, while balancing technological excellence. Your role will involve leading technical direction and architecture with engineering team members, facilitating coordination of multiple scrum teams, and driving practices in training, development, and efficiencies across multiple feature teams. You will also be responsible for diagnosing and resolving systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software, building a culture of continuous learning, and advocating for engineering best practices within the UI ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers working on front-end technologies.
  • Develop and maintain a well-defined roadmap in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead technical direction and architecture with engineering team members.
  • Facilitate coordination of multiple scrum teams to deliver committed feature sets.
  • Drive practices in training, development, and efficiencies across multiple feature teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles preventing high-quality software delivery.
  • Build a culture of continuous learning and sharing of technological insights.
  • Educate and advocate for engineering best practices within the UI ecosystem.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop world-class engineers.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of management experience in engineering.
  • 8+ years of product development experience building rich user experiences for scalable products, ideally in web applications.
  • Proficiency in modern web technologies such as React, Redux, Node.js, GraphQL, Jest, Storybook, Webpack, i18n/l10n, a11y, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple complex technical projects in an agile environment.
  • Strong design sensibility and attention to detail.
  • Believes in the value of writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences.
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies.
