About the position
Dwight Summer Day Camp is looking to hire fun, dynamic individuals for the summer of 2025! Camp runs from June 16, 2025 through August 8th, 2025. Seeking applicants who love kids and want the experience of working at camp and gaining skills. You get skills transferable to any industry in your future career path, including management, tenacity, perseverance, team work, patience, working under pressure, time management and more. Swim Instructors are mentors and role models for all Dwight campers. Our Aquatic camp team is responsible for bringing aquatic fun and energy to camp each and every day, while also taking the time to ensure the safety of all campers: managing their behavior, building a platform of trust with each swim group so they maintain a safe environment during swim sessions, and making sure that they are engaged for their lesson times in the pool. Swim Instructors work as part of a team, facilitating engaging swimming lessons with children over the course of the summer.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate engaging swimming lessons for children over the course of the summer.
- Manage camper behavior and ensure safety during swim sessions.
- Build trust with swim groups to maintain a safe environment.
- Communicate any issues that arise during the course of the day to supervisors.
- Participate in the Aquatics training program prior to the start of the summer and in periodic in-camp training throughout the summer.
Requirements
- Must be 17+ years of age and possess a current (within one year) Lifeguarding/First-Aid/CPR/AED Certification.
- Valid WSI Certification.
- Must be able to commit to work until August 8th.
- Demonstrated interest in working with children.
- Committed to communication and arriving to work on time.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a summer camp or after school setting/working with children in groups.
Benefits
- Compensation range of $18-$30 hourly.
- $500 bonus upon successful completion of camp.
