About the position

Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking for a Technical Product Owner to join our Software Engineering team. The Technical Product Owner (TPO) is the primary role driving business requirements into our agile development teams, and a key partner with Product Management and Software Engineering teams. This role serves as a conduit between business/product objectives and technical execution. The purpose of the TPO role is to enable effective and efficient execution of technical product development, with a clear understanding of the desired product, based on well-defined user stories.

Responsibilities

  • Understand market needs and transform business requirements into features and user stories with clear acceptance criteria to convey specific functionality from an end-user perspective
  • Own sprint prioritization, balancing between product work and other activities within a sprint
  • Translate product and business needs into detailed technical requirements and user stories
  • Prioritize the backlog based on business value, technical dependencies, and stakeholder input
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Architects, SREs, Data Services, Data Analytics and QA to ensure technical solutions align with overall platform strategy and performance goals
  • Serve as the go-to expert for the team’s deliverables, ensuring clarity and completeness of stories and technical documentation
  • Participate in and lead agile ceremonies in concert with the team’s Software Engineering Lead (sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups)
  • Act as the key liaison between different technical units and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years as a Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in a technology-driven environment; freight or logistics industry experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced understanding of agile development processes and demonstrated experience driving agile processes in a highly technical environment
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; adept at working across different functions and diverse cultures
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment, with a need to adapt to changing priorities, market dynamics, and evolving business needs and guide teams accordingly
  • Intimate knowledge of freight brokerage workflows, personas, and the key systems leveraged by them, including but not limited to; TMS, digital marketplaces, and shipper portals
  • Ability to translate freight workflows and operational processes into detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • CSPO certification or equivalent experience
