Responsibilities
- Assembles / disassembles, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains tooling and dies through a variety of standard methodology
- Performs complex machining to turn raw materials into finished dies and fixtures
- Performs preventive maintenance to ensure dies are as production ready as possible
- Maintains logs and appropriate records on die maintenance
- Reads/studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, and/or descriptions to determine materials and machines needed to fabricate parts
- Participates in tool design and prototype production
- Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines methods for sequence of operations
- Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining
- Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances
- Identifies a reasonable amount of time to complete a job and communicates problems and estimated repair times
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements
- Makes recommendations to continuously improve tooling and fixtures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Operate Tool Room equipment
- Read and understand blueprints
- Heat-treating procedures
- Able to make basic detail prints of die sections
- Must be able to work on multiple jobs at one time
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Mathematical ability to perform basic math computations such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
- High school diploma or GED required
- Journeyman’s card or equivalent a plus
- Computer skills, crane, and tow motor experience are a plus
