Responsibilities

  • Assembles / disassembles, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains tooling and dies through a variety of standard methodology
  • Performs complex machining to turn raw materials into finished dies and fixtures
  • Performs preventive maintenance to ensure dies are as production ready as possible
  • Maintains logs and appropriate records on die maintenance
  • Reads/studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, and/or descriptions to determine materials and machines needed to fabricate parts
  • Participates in tool design and prototype production
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines methods for sequence of operations
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances
  • Identifies a reasonable amount of time to complete a job and communicates problems and estimated repair times
  • Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements
  • Makes recommendations to continuously improve tooling and fixtures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Operate Tool Room equipment
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Heat-treating procedures
  • Able to make basic detail prints of die sections
  • Must be able to work on multiple jobs at one time
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Mathematical ability to perform basic math computations such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Journeyman’s card or equivalent a plus
  • Computer skills, crane, and tow motor experience are a plus
