About the position

TeachFX is a growing, mission-driven startup; our AI coach helps teachers improve their instruction. As UI/UX Designer at TeachFX, you'll contribute significantly to every pixel and interaction of our product, serving educators and celebrating the craft of excellent teaching. Reporting directly to our Chief Product Officer, you’ll be working on the cutting edge of how to design human-centered AI-driven technology, and as one of the first designers on the team you’ll have enormous impact. This can be either a full-time or part-time role, depending on candidate availability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a range of artifacts: low-fi concepts, user flows, design templates, wireframe prototypes, and high fidelity, pixel-perfect designs.
  • Employ user-centered design principles to create intuitive, impactful user experiences.
  • Create, test, and evaluate hypotheses about user behavior through rapid iteration.
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative research to understand user needs and determine the product design direction.
  • Partner with engineering to adjust scope and launch products to spec.
  • Work from SF Bay co-working spaces (both in San Mateo & SF) once a week.

Requirements

  • Have 3+ years of professional experience with a portfolio of beloved user experiences.
  • Have great attention to detail.
  • Be highly proficient with Figma.
  • Communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Be knowledgeable and curious about UX best practices.
  • Love rapid, playful iteration on UI designs, with an understanding of layout, hierarchy, and typography.
  • Thrive in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial culture, comfortable with ambiguity and change.
  • Be excited by our mission to serve teachers and understand their day-to-day challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative user research.
  • Experience designing educational content, mobile apps, or products for educators.
  • Experience teaching in K-12 classrooms.
