About the position

Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally. We are currently seeking a UX/UI Developer to join our team. As a UX/UI Developer, you will be responsible for designing and developing sophisticated user experiences and interfaces for cloud applications using React, TypeScript, and CSS. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable, and user-friendly applications that meet our clients' needs. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position. This position reports to the Director of Cloud Services.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain user interfaces using React, TypeScript, and CSS.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other engineers to define project requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Optimize code and designs for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain at the forefront of innovation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2-4 years’ experience with developing UX/UI for cloud native applications.
  • Experience with jQuery, ReactJS, TypeScript, and other JavaScript frameworks.
  • Significant experience with CSS.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graphics design capabilities.
  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • XAML experience a plus.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as C#.
  • Experience with Blazor and/or Razor pages.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools.
