In this role, you#ll be a vital part of our administrative#team, ensuring excellent service, collaboration, and patient outcomes in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Unit Technician supports the Emergency Department (ED) team by performing a range of technical, clerical, and patient care tasks under the supervision of licensed medical personnel. In this role, you will contribute#to a safe, efficient, and compassionate care environment for patients and families by maintaining clinical equipment and supplies, delivering both direct and indirect patient services, and supporting overall unit operations. What You#ll Do Safety # Compliance: Follows all hospital policies, procedures, and infection prevention standards Performs routine equipment checks and immediately removes faulty equipment from service Adheres to fire safety, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance protocols Patient Care Support: Responds promptly and compassionately to patient and family requests Observes and reports patient conditions or concerns to licensed professionals in a timely manner Escalates concerns appropriately through the chain of command when necessary Equipment Operation # Inventory: Operates clinical equipment including sphygmomanometers, scales, pulse oximeters, and telemetry devices Safely uses transport tools such as wheelchairs, lift systems, slide boards, and stretchers Utilizes the pneumatic tube system for delivery of specimens and documents Tracks and retrieves IV pumps; restocks unit and specialty carts to ensure readiness and prevent expiration of supplies Clerical # Communication Support: Answers unit phones using professional etiquette; communicates effectively with patients, families, and staff Assists with patient movement to and from the unit in coordination with nurses and clinicians Accurately documents data in accordance with department policies Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling sensitive information Customer Service # Teamwork: Demonstrates professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity in all interactions Communicates clearly and appropriately with patients, families, and colleagues Supports a collaborative team culture by maintaining open and respectful communication Conveys patient and family needs to appropriate staff in a timely manner Accountability # Engagement: Accepts constructive feedback and modifies performance accordingly Participates actively in department initiatives, meetings, and improvement activities Completes all required training, competencies, and in-services by established deadlines Reads and acknowledges department communications in a timely manner Adheres to hospital mission, vision, values, and code of conduct Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in alignment with Saratoga Hospital values Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support health, healing, and service excellence Perform#administrative#responsibilities with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency Use hospital systems and tools to document care and support operations Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and support patient and staff satisfaction Serve as a positive, professional representative of our hospital and community What You Bring High school diploma or equivalent required Prior experience in an emergency department or as an EMT, nursing student, or in a clinical setting preferred Previous medical office experience beneficial Proficiency with typing and ability to use information systems required Knowledge of medical terminology preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to providing patient-first, high-quality service Comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment # Why Saratoga Hospital A caring, community-focused culture rooted in teamwork and trust Supportive leadership that invests in your development and well-being Comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and wellness programs.
