Responsibilities
- Research and/or test latest design, analysis and optimization software in the industry, especially Open Source.
- Research, develop, integrate and validate MDAO-hardened analysis methods and software applications for conventional and non-conventional aircraft.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 5 + years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- Knowledge of aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, mass properties, stability & control, kinematics, aircraft performance.
- Computer programming expertise.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience using OpenMDAO.
- Experience using Engineering Sketch Pad.
- Ability to perform fixed-wing aircraft sizing methodology.
- Knowledge and experience performing gradient-based optimization.
- Strong Work Ethic. Positive attitude. Optimistic. Pragmatic.
- Can work productively in a noisy office environment.
- Knowledge regarding 14 CFR Part 23, 25, etc.
- Design-Build-Test experience of aircraft.
- Experience with Open Source software associated with aircraft analysis.
- Wind tunnel and data collection method knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience with control theory along with implementation.
- Knowledge of Boeing's various engineering database management.
- 14 + years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
