About the position

The Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Medicine's Department of Surgery is seeking a faculty member for a full-time position in Trauma / Critical Care Surgery at University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO). The role involves teaching Surgical Critical Care fellows, General Surgery residents, and medical students, while also engaging in leadership opportunities within the department and hospital administration. The appointment can be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach Surgical Critical Care fellows, General Surgery residents, and medical students.
• Demonstrate expertise in trauma and critical care management.
• Engage in scholarly activity and research.
• Participate in leadership opportunities within the department and hospital administration.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain clinical availability.

Requirements

• MD or equivalent degree.
• Board Certified/Board Eligible (BC/BE) in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana and credentialed with all required entities before date of hire.
