About the position

The Assistant Professor of Practice (APOP) position in the Department of Nursing at John Carroll University is designed for individuals with extensive professional experience in nursing. This role emphasizes teaching and mentoring students through practical, hands-on approaches rather than focusing primarily on research. The APOP will engage in a 4-4 course load, advising students, and participating in departmental service activities, while also contributing to recruitment and marketing efforts for the nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Teach a 4-4 course load
• Advise students
• Interview potential students
• Attend department meetings
• Attend required university meetings
• Assist with department recruitment and marketing activities
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing
• Valid license, or license eligible, as a Registered Nurse in Ohio
• Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in Nursing
• Experience with in-person and online teaching
• At least two years in the profession of nursing as a registered nurse

Nice-to-haves

• Doctoral degree or ABD status from an accredited program
• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
• Experience in recruiting and marketing and/or program development
• Record of new or existing course development
• Experience with CCNE accreditation standards
• Experience with program assessment and program data collection and analysis
• Active participation in state/national nursing organizations and related community organizations
