About the position
SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is a market maker for swaps, including interest rate, currency and commodity swaps and related derivative products, headquartered in New York as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SMBC. SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. was provisionally registered as a swap dealer with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on December 31, 2012. Our business works in close collaboration with SMBC Nikko Capital Markets, Capital Markets Limited in the UK, and SMBC Capital Markets Asia, Ltd in Hong Kong to provide global coverage to SMBC’s corporate, institutional, and project clients. Capital Markets maintains its own middle and back-office functions, including Risk Management, Compliance, Systems, Finance, and Operations. SMBC Capital Markets, Inc Front Office Technology team is looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer for their front office suite of application supporting trading, marketing, trade analysis and research.
Responsibilities
- Front-end software development work
- Working to replace and/or integrate legacy systems
- Running daily scrums, JIRA grooming
- Evaluating and proposing technical designs
- Follow Software development lifecycle
- Creating documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, code comments
- Monitoring, collecting, and analyzing of software or system issues
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience with React, Typescript, HTML5, CSS/SASS, Node.js, REST/Websocket
- Experience in development of scalable or distributed systems, with high volume transactions
- Understanding of software engineering best practices, coding standards, code reviews, source management, testing, etc
- Domain knowledge in the Fixed Income space
- Good communication skills. Ability to directly interface and support users
Nice-to-haves
- OpenFin experience
- Angular
- Familiarity with Figma
- Light knowledge of devOps, VMs, cloud, Kubernetes, etc
- Experience with deal and trade flows, trade process, etc. a plus
