About the position

The Associate Transportation Planner will work under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Planner, primarily focusing on climate change programs within the Department of Transportation. This role involves supporting the implementation of new climate change initiatives established by federal and state legislation, particularly the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). The incumbent will assist in integrating climate change considerations into transportation planning and decision-making processes, while also coordinating activities across various functional units.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing climate change programs established by the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
  • Support District efforts to identify climate change concepts for project development.
  • Coordinate climate change activities across appropriate functional units.
  • Provide technical assistance in identifying and supporting research and analysis of climate change and adaptation.
  • Conduct outreach, education, and training on climate change.
  • Assist in the preparation of planning studies and documents related to climate change adaptation.
  • Identify adaptation measures for capital project delivery.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state-owned or leased vehicle.
  • Experience in transportation planning or related fields.
