About the position

The Business Unit Leader is responsible for managing the operations and performance of the company within the organic food industry. This role focuses on ensuring efficient and high-quality production of whole foods while maintaining a safe and compliant environment. The position requires strong leadership to optimize production, engage employees, and drive business results, all while adhering to customer expectations and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee live production, including bird health, feeding, environmental programs, and transfer from pullet houses to production facilities.
• Lead and develop operations teams to meet site goals, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture.
• Drive business performance through key metrics such as production efficiency, feed conversion, yield, and labor/material costs.
• Promote employee engagement and retention, creating a positive work environment that aligns with company values.
• Ensure safety, ethical animal treatment, and compliance with FDA, ODA, EPA, USDA regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Manage the site's financial performance, including budget development and cost control.
• Oversee preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment management to ensure operational efficiency and safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in operations management, Agriculture, or Finance.
• 5+ years of operations management experience in poultry, agriculture, or food processing.
• Proven leadership in driving performance and managing diverse teams.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills with employees, customers, and regulatory bodies.
• Experience interpreting financial and operational data for decision-making.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks.
