About the position

The Buyer at SEI Manufacturing is responsible for managing purchasing, reporting, and forecasting for the business unit, while ensuring that necessary inventory levels are maintained. This role involves negotiating contracts, responding to customer inquiries, and supporting production staff, all while promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Purchasing of production and maintenance supplies, shop tools, cleaners, mold releases, safety equipment, and office supplies
• Purchasing of raw materials used for manufacturing
• Negotiate purchasing contracts and issue purchase orders
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide updates as needed
• Support business unit and Patrick cost-saving initiatives
• Maintain accurate tracking of inventory levels and place purchase orders when necessary
• Observe safety rules within the manufacturing area
• Support production staff on the plant floor when needed
• Provide support to customer requests through order processing and email resolution
• Keep an accurate log of customer accounts and update custom records as needed
• Support shipping/receiving to ensure the timely flow of materials in and out of the facility

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of purchasing experience preferred
• Manufacturing experience is highly desired; previous experience maintaining inventory records will be considered a strong plus
• Understanding of basic mathematics
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time
• High enthusiasm, energy, and initiative
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong accountability and follow-through skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel
