About the position

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) position at Good Samaritan Society involves assisting patients with therapy activities and exercises as part of a treatment plan under the supervision of an occupational therapist. The COTA is responsible for monitoring and documenting therapy services, selecting and modifying therapeutic activities, and ensuring adherence to clinical practice guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with therapy activities and exercises scheduled in a treatment plan under the supervision of an occupational therapist.
• Monitor and record therapy services provided to patients with physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial impairments.
• Select, implement, and modify therapeutic activities and interventions based on competency levels and patient goals.
• Document patient responses and communications during interventions and provide this information to the occupational therapist.
• Ensure knowledge of targeted occupational therapy outcomes and document related achievements.
• Follow accepted clinical practice guidelines and perform other related duties as requested.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in the state(s) of practice.
• Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six months of employment.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is preferred.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on location.
