About the position

Franklin Building Supply is a lumber and building material company that has been in business for more than 45 years. We supply just about everything besides plumbing and electrical to build homes, focusing on serving professional home builders. The primary purpose of this role is to fabricate interior and exterior doors and door frames while performing general warehouse duties. This role requires welding, carpentry, and organizational skills to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient fabrication and installation of metal doors and frames.

Responsibilities

  • Install and service commercial steel/wood doors, frames, and architectural hardware in accordance with project specifications.
  • Perform field modifications on steel doors and frames when necessary using proper tools and methods.
  • Diagnose and repair existing openings and products during service calls; determine and execute the best course of action.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor while working onsite with clients; ensure minimal disruption during installation or service.
  • Manage personal schedule, document activities accurately, and communicate status updates in a timely manner.
  • Carry out all tasks in compliance with company and jobsite safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with the Project Manager or Salesperson regarding jobsite issues, delays, or material needs before, during, and after service.
  • Collaborate with Service Manager or Salesperson to request or order necessary materials or products.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of commercial mechanical hardware, doors, and frames.
  • Minimum of 2 years' carpentry or relevant field experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and comfort using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to follow written, visual (drawings/images), and verbal instructions clearly.
  • Demonstrates punctuality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage independent work.
  • Works effectively alone and with team members on varied job sites.
  • Capable of lifting at least 50 lbs. unassisted, working overhead, climbing, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license required for travel to job sites.
