Boeing is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mid-Level or Senior Software Engineers to support the Common Core System (CCS) software engineering team the critical mission of developing and certifying safe, reliable, and innovative aircraft, located in Everett, WA. The Software Engineer will play a vital role in fostering a culture of safety and excellence, making significant contributions to the certification process that underpins the trust of our customers and the flying public. The selected individuals will interface with suppliers and internal Boeing organizations to oversee development of new software and updates, ensure application of industry standards and Boeing requirements, and assure certification/compliance with FAA regulatory requirements. The software engineer is expected to apply the guidelines from DO-178B/C to software development projects, in order to support compliance and certification activities. The documentation reviews for this role range from requirements/design/test/software quality assurance plan reviews to test automation reviews and problem report review.

  • Oversee a team of engineers focused on the design, analysis, and testing of aircraft systems and components, with an unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation required for FAA certification, ensuring that all materials reflect the highest standards of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Assist in oversight of software suppliers in development of airborne systems software and related project management activities.
  • Support review and approval of suppliers’ software lifecycle data throughout software lifecycle processes; from planning, requirements, development/implementation, verification and certification phases.
  • Assist in stage of involvement (SOI) reviews/audits, as well as Requirements Reviews, Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews.
  • Support software project management and software supplier management functions.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to ensure that each system operates as designed and free of safety issues and quality problems.
  • Review and disposition problem reports written by Systems Engineers and Suppliers.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in RTCA DO-178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12+ years’ experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and agile software engineering practices.
  • 9+ years’ experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • 9+ years’ experience leading development projects.
  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.
  • Experience using common software version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA.
