About the position

Lone Star Custard Holdings, LLC is a 45-unit Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers franchisee based in San Antonio, Texas. We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Corporate Controller to join our finance team. The Controller is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing financial insights to support business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements with regular financial reporting to ownership and relevant third parties, to include Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, Statement of Retained Earnings, and unit-level financial and KPI reporting.
  • Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Oversee the Company’s payroll process.
  • Conducting financial analysis and providing recommendations to management.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Managing and analyzing financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure effective financial planning and management.
  • Developing and managing budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform internal audits and assist with external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
  • Manage relationships with corporate bankers/lenders, landlords, insurance brokers, and franchisor, among others.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in a Controller role, preferably in restaurant or similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and financial software (R365 preferred).
  • Degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Certified as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.
  • Experience with general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work large complex programs with great attention to detail.
  • Experience with cash management and risk assessment.
  • Technological acumen and experience with business intelligence and accounting software (Domo, Restaurant 365).
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Excel, including advanced use of formulas and functions (INDEX, MATCH, SUMPRODUCT, etc.), pivot tables, and logic statements.
  • Analytical abilities to make sound decisions.
  • Ability to organize detailed information.
  • Supervisory skills to manage finance operations.
  • Keen attention to detail, meticulous, methodical, and extremely organized.
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Work experience as a Controller or similar level FP&A professional.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Finance and/or Accounting (restaurant experience is a plus).
