Yes No Full job description Position Title : Counselor 2 Department : Clinical Reports To : Clinical Coordinator Supervises : May supervise Assistant Counselors or Behavioral Techs. Position Summary : The Counselor 2 provides advanced clinical treatment services to individuals with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting assessments, creating treatment plans, facilitating individual and group therapy sessions, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Counselor 2 also manages caseloads and contributes to family counseling, documentation, and program development. Entry Level Qualifications : LAADC 2 Licensure Required, or a Master's Degree in Social or Behavioral Science with eligibility for licensure within 90 days. Two years of experience in addiction treatment or special populations preferred. CPR certification required within the first 30 days of employment . Essential Functions : Conduct a comprehensive Psychosocial Assessment , evaluating the patient's psychological, social, and addiction-related needs. Evaluate and integrate assessment findings from multiple disciplines and databases into a comprehensive clinical summary. Develop treatment plans that transform identified issues into specific goals, objectives, and corresponding interventions. Document the patient's clinical course of treatment in progress notes, ensuring clear, legible, and accurate records. Manage and coordinate the patient's work on treatment objectives , keeping the patient, clinical team, payers, and referral sources informed of the patient's progress or lack of progress as appropriate. Formulate and document a discharge summary , summarizing significant findings, treatment progress, and the patient's final assessment at discharge. Integrate 12-Step Programs and Principles into the therapeutic process and treatment plan while maintaining a professional treatment focus. Manage caseloads, documentation requirements, and treatment delivery responsibilities in a professional and timely manner. Conduct individual counseling sessions appropriate for the treatment of addictive disorders. Facilitate group therapy sessions , addressing addiction and co-occurring disorders. Conduct specialty groups that are relevant to addiction treatment, such as relapse prevention or trauma-informed care. Perform conjoint family counseling , integrating an understanding of codependency and the impact of addiction on families. Deliver basic education lectures and presentations relevant to addiction treatment, ensuring patient and family understanding of key concepts. Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance , ensuring clear, coherent communication and responsiveness to patient needs. Supervise and mentor Assistant Counselors or Behavioral Technicians , if assigned, and document supervision according to policy and procedure. Work cooperatively with co-workers, managers, clients, and prospective clients in a collaborative and professional manner. Remain alert at all times , ensuring job performance is conducted in a safe manner. Regular attendance and active participation in staff meetings and training sessions.
