About the position

The Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) Lab Technician will focus on performing DPA on various electrical components, including capacitors, diodes, and Printed Wiring Boards. The role involves working primarily with cross-section or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis, while also supporting visual inspections and other testing methods. The technician will collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure accurate testing and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) on electrical components.
  • Conduct cross-section (metallography) or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis.
  • Review specifications and create test reports.
  • Work on a variety of electrical components based on test requirements.
  • Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and planners in a lab environment.
  • Correspond with internal customers regarding testing procedures.
  • Conduct experiments and tests in fabrication or processing laboratories.
  • Evaluate new processes, components, products, and systems against engineering specifications.
  • Isolate problems for further analysis and document results.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures.
  • Design experiments and ensure correct functioning of equipment.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • At least a High School Diploma.
  • 2 years of experience in a lab environment performing technician responsibilities.
  • Experience in metallography, cross-section, SEM analysis, or destructive physical analysis is ideal.
  • Ability to follow test plans and work with hands.
  • Technical reading and interpretation of specifications.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working at a DPA Lab or electronics failure analysis lab environment.
  • Familiarity with Mil-Std-883, Mil-Std-750, Mil-Std-1580.
  • Experience with DPA Lab equipment such as microscopes, bond-pull, die-shear, SEM/EDX, and cross-sectioning.
  • Detail-oriented with good verbal and written communication skills.
