About the position

The Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing the Dietary Department, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and providing quality nutritional services. This role involves collaboration with the Dietitian to plan, organize, and direct dietary operations while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Dietary Department and its programs.
  • Develop and maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for dietary personnel.
  • Review and revise department policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions annually.
  • Inspect food storage and utility areas for upkeep and supply control.
  • Process diet changes and new diets from the Nursing Department.
  • Address departmental complaints and grievances, reporting actions taken to the Dietitian or Administrator.
  • Assist in dietary planning during resident discharge.
  • Participate in facility surveys conducted by government agencies.
  • Interview residents or family members to obtain diet history.
  • Review therapeutic and regular diet plans for compliance with physician's orders.
  • Ensure dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive.
  • Maintain and file menus according to established policies.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of food and supplies are maintained.
  • Assist the Infection Control Committee with food service aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness in dietary service work areas and food storage areas.
  • Review and revise care plans and assessments quarterly.
  • Ensure care plans identify special equipment and utensils needed by residents.
  • Ensure all dietary personnel are aware of care plans and their use in daily food services.
  • Review financial and budget transactions, assisting with budget development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a medical facility.
  • Knowledgeable of dietary practices and regulations governing dietary functions in nursing care facilities.
