About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role at Affinity Care Group involves providing essential support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for these individuals through a person-centered approach, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being while promoting independence and self-esteem. The DSP will work primarily during the evening shift from 3 PM to 11 PM, Monday through Friday, and will be responsible for implementing individualized support plans and engaging individuals in community activities.

Responsibilities

• Support and coach individuals with developmental disabilities in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
• Apply individual programming and behavior support plans as outlined in the Individualized Support Plan and other therapies.
• Engage supported individuals in community job development skills and recreational opportunities.
• Promote independence and enhance self-esteem for each supported individual.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree or Medical Health Care Certificate preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record and personal transportation.
• National Background Check Clearance and DIDD Abuse and Neglect Clearance.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Medication Administration certification required.
• Willingness to submit to random drug testing throughout employment with good results.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training preferred.
• No experience necessary; however, 6 months working with IDD preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Associates Degree or Medical Health Care Certificate preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
