About the position

Responsible for the management of the Materials Management Departments. All related functions will be managed in an efficient and effective manner, including but not limited to: Shipping and receiving of all hospital supplies (except food and pharmacy), storeroom, Par Level replenishment, inventory control, material management, durable medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
  • Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Ensures department stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.
  • Establish materials purchasing and distribution practice and procedures in accordance with hospital policy to insure effective preparation and processing of hospital supplies and materials.
  • Coordinate new product evaluation.
  • Compiles and prepares special reports concerning unusual or expensive purchase item reports for the CFO.
  • Disposes of surplus or obsolete supplies and equipment through established procedures.
  • Works closely with the Value Analysis Team to ensure proper purchasing and item analysis.
  • Works closely with Capital Committee to verify Capital information and verify pricing and quotes provided for purchase.
  • After appropriate signatures are collected, creates all capital purchases and keeps record of purchases.
  • Selects vendors for non-contract items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years Materials Management experience required (in Healthcare preferred).
  • 1-2 Supervisor experience required.
