About the position

The Director of External Reporting is responsible for overseeing the preparation, review, and filing of the company's financial reports with NASDAQ and TSX, ensuring compliance with IFRS and US GAAP. This role involves leading the external reporting process, managing relationships with auditors, and enhancing the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. The position is critical for maintaining high visibility within the company and the executive management team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the corporate TSX & NASDAQ external reporting process in accordance with IFRS Standards & US GAAP.
  • Research and opine on technical accounting & reporting matters and implement new accounting standards as needed.
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors regarding external reporting and SEC filing deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with NASDAQ and TSX reporting requirements, including filing quarterly and annual reports with the SEC.
  • Manage the administration and maintenance of the company's external reporting software, Workiva.
  • Build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams to drive key external reporting initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with accounting service providers to ensure efficient service delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years' experience in various Accounting and Finance roles at a senior level, preferably with a large public accounting firm and experience managing external reporting teams.
  • CPA designation required with NASDAQ reporting experience.
  • Knowledge of SEC, OSC, IFRS, and US GAAP accounting, reporting, and disclosure requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with researching and communicating SEC reporting disclosure guidance and accounting treatments of complex issues.
  • Experience with consolidations in a large multi-national organization.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with high attention to detail.
