About the position

The District Human Resources Manager at Penske is responsible for supporting district field teams and collaborating with leadership to implement human capital strategies. This role involves fostering a culture of engagement, managing associate performance, and ensuring compliance with HR practices across multiple locations. The position is integral to the District Leadership team and focuses on enhancing the onboarding experience, talent management, and workforce planning while addressing associate and labor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and facilitate the District's New Associate Experience onboarding program.
  • Lead, coach, and support the onboarding Ambassadors throughout the district.
  • Support and train managers to ensure new associates receive appropriate onboarding support.
  • Identify trends and propose solutions to address local retention challenges.
  • Guide District team development through coaching leaders in people management and associate development.
  • Monitor development plans and escalate issues to the District Manager if necessary.
  • Prepare documents for district-level succession planning and talent review discussions.
  • Collaborate with departments to identify appropriate staffing levels based on growth trends.
  • Provide staffing support and collaborate on recruiting efforts with local technical schools and universities.
  • Build relationships to support a positive culture and engaging environment.
  • Advise associates and management on HR policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Participate in investigations of associate concerns and collaborate on recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies regarding training and compensation.
  • Lead the integration of new associates into the company culture and provide ongoing support.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in a Human Resources role or relevant field operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • SHRM or HRCI Certification(s) preferred (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
  • Some knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance issues preferred.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills and strong oral and writing capabilities.
  • Ability to collect, compile, and analyze information and data.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with associates and management.
  • High level of honesty, integrity, and ethics.
  • Skilled operation of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic understanding of HRIS systems.
  • Valid Driver's License and willingness to travel as necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a Penske operational role.
  • Additional knowledge of employment law in specific states (e.g., CA, MA, WA, OR).
