About the position

The Dock Lead position at Goodwill Industries of Houston is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dock and salvage workforce. This role aims to maximize profitability while providing training and support to team members. The Dock Lead will ensure adherence to safety standards and operational guidelines, contributing to the organization's mission of helping individuals achieve their full potential through work.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the dock and salvage workforce.
  • Provide direction, job training, and support to dock and salvage Team Members.
  • Ensure adherence to operational standards and safety protocols.
  • Supervise daily activities of dock and salvage Team Members to maintain processing standards.
  • Coordinate after-market resale and salvage operations for maximum profitability.
  • Ensure proper handling and processing of donated goods and recyclable materials.
  • Assist with logistics for the sale, recycling, and disposal of salvage goods.
  • Promote zero waste opportunities and increase revenue.
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of the dock and surrounding areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control of goods and coordinate loads.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a warehouse setting preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use various applications.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Must be able to become forklift certified or have prior experience operating a forklift.
  • Ability to lead a team and coach team members effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation and punctual attendance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Safety certifications preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in loading techniques for various load types.
