About the position

The Energy Assistance Program Coordinator plays a vital role in the operational efficiency of the Energy Assistance Program (EAP) at the Area Agency on Aging and Community Action Agency for Northwest Indiana. This position is responsible for managing EAP payments, ensuring compliance with program requirements, and serving as the main point of contact for utility vendors and service providers. The coordinator will work closely with the finance department to address inquiries and submissions related to online claims, contributing to the overall mission of assisting individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.

Responsibilities

• Electronically create, submit, track, and reconcile EAP payments.
• Serve as the liaison between CoAction, utility vendors, and service providers for all EAP payments.
• Work with the CoAction Finance Department to manage online claims inquiries and submissions.
• Maintain full understanding of program requirements, procedures, goals, and measurement systems, including IHCDA and internally established standards.
• Conduct regular data checks to ensure compliance with CoAction and vendor contract requirements.
• Cooperate and coordinate with CoAction staff to enhance communication and meet agency goals and objectives.
• Participate in regular staff meetings, training programs, supervisory sessions, and aid in the development of positive team relationships.
• Other duties as assigned by the EAP Supervisor.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
• At least two years of work-related experience preferred.
• Strong administrative skills, including proficiency in office software.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with staff, clients, and service providers.
• Solid understanding of the needs and challenges of low-income populations.
