This is a Corporate Position located at LaSalle Nuclear Power Station in Marseilles, IL. This is a multi-level requisition, and the role can be filled at the Simulator Software Engineer level or Sr Simulator Software Engineer level. Responsibilities
- Create and modify simulation software logic and dynamic models used at a nuclear power plant in the Main Control Room Simulator.
- Coordinate simulator tasks and collaborate across teams as needed.
- Engage with business partners to gather information, analyze requirements, and deliver practical, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
- Design, develop and/or review complex code to ensure solutions meet the requirements of functional and technical specifications.
- Develop and/or review project technical architecture design and development.
- Support development of version control principles.
- Ensure all risks and issues that affect the projects are captured and actioned appropriately.
- Maintain engagement with the Site Training Department to provide support for emergent problems.
- Lead planning activities for assigned site.
- Participate in projects for other sites in the fleet as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 2 years of relevant experience for Simulator Software Engineer or 5 years for Sr Simulator Software Engineer.
- Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium teams in delivering software solutions.
- Strong software development capabilities and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of advanced programming concepts, data structure, and algorithms.
- Proficient in FORTRAN and C programming languages.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Proficient with installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Operating Systems.
Nice-to-haves
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering and 7+ years engineering experience.
- Consulting/client engagement background.
- Knowledge of business practices and processes in Nuclear Power Plant Operations.
- Knowledge of graphic design software.
- Experience with modeling systems and Simulator model builder software (e.g., Thor, Xtreme, Jade, TopMerit, Thunder).
- Experience with Simulator Executive Systems (e.g., OpenSim, TREX, SimExec, Chattanooga).
- Experience leading small IT projects or sub-teams and knowledge of IT project management.
- Experience with GIT configuration management.
- Experience with network topology.
- Experience with creating software interface protocols.
